LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free art workshop to cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. Introduction to One-Stroke Painting will take place from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, at CMMC, 12 High Street, Conference Room I.
Presenter Deborah McIntosh will teach how to load brushes and blend paint to create a decorative flower, ideal for holiday gift-giving. No artistic experience is necessary.
An eight-year survivor of acute promyelocytic leukemia, McIntosh has used her “second chance at life” to give back and help others. She volunteers for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the American Cancer Society, LIVESTRONG and the CMMC Health and Wellness Center.
McIntosh has always loved creating art and took up one-stroke painting in 2007. She studied with Donna Dewberry, who created the technique, appears on the Home Shopping Network and teaches workshops all over the country.
Preregistration is available by calling the Dempsey Center at 795-8250, toll-free 1-877-336-7287 or online at www.dempseycenter.org.
