She was born Jan. 20, 1923, in Norway, to Paul F. and Mildred Noyes Hosmer. Despite weighing 3 pounds at birth, Mom was rarely sick a day in her life. She graduated from Norway High School, Class of 1941.

On Aug. 27, 1954, she married Lawrence W. McAllister (Gus). Together they made their home and raised their family in the village of North Waterford, and later on the beautiful shores of Jewett Pond.

Polly enjoyed Christmas decorations and music, she really knew the true meaning of Christmas. She loved the out-of-doors especially listening to the loons on Jewett Pond. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved going to Jackman camping.

She is survived by her husband, Lawrence of 56 years; children, Jeffrey McAllister and wife, Kathy, of Boise, Idaho, Carol Miller and husband, Wayne, of Sweden, Vickie Millett and husband, Leslie, of Norway and Paul McAllister and wife, Natalie, of North Waterford; her grandchildren, who were the joy of her life, Melissa McAllister and husband, Dale, Courtney Gibney and husband, Adam, Maressa McAllister and husband, Tony and Jennifer Richard and husband, Kyle; and many nieces and nephews.

With Dad’s care she was able to live at home until August of this year. The immediate family would like to acknowledge Mom and Dad’s family and friends for their many visits and words of encouragement over the past several years. You made a difference and you are truly special.
