LEWISTON — Leo J. Ouellette,86, of 8 Woodside Dr., Lewiston, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, at d’Youville Pavilion, with his loving family at his side.

He was born in St. Agatha, the son of Euthrope and Anna (Bouchard) Ouellette, and was educated in northern Maine schools.

On Feb. 16, 1946, he married the former Jeannette Couture at the Basilica of Saints Peter & Paul and together they settled in Lewiston to raise their family.

Mr. Ouellette was a veteran of the U.S. military, having proudly served his country as a Marine during World War II, where he served in the Pacific Theater. Leo then worked for many years at Eastland Shoe and Carlton Woolen, until his retirement. He was a member of Holy Cross Church and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, doing puzzles, watching the New England Patriots and daytime “soaps,” and landscaping and puttering around the house. He was a loving, devoted and hard-working husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed.

He leaves his wife, Jeannette Ouellette; his daughter, Janie Poulin and her husband, Robert; granddaughter, Kristi Anderson and husband, Michael; grandson, Mitch Poulin and wife, Alicia; four great-grandchildren, Lexi and Troy Poulin and Makenzie and Madison Anderson, all of Lewiston; four sisters, Norma Devoe of Lewiston, Evelyn Curless of Lisbon, Shirley Rizzolo of Lewiston and Alice Rodrigue of Lewiston; one brother, Joe Ouellette of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Fitzherbert and Priscilla Hathaway; and three brothers, Reynald, Roger and Gilbert Ouellette.
