Genealogy program
FARMINGTON — The Sandy River Valley Chapter, MGS, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Farmington Public Library. The program topic will be “Some Early Franklin County Families,” presented by Luanne Yetter. Anyone with an interest in genealogy is welcome.
Church cantata
JAY — The Jay Baptist Church choir will present the cantata, “Bethlehem’s Light,” at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, and again Sunday, Dec. 12, at the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Refreshments will follow the Saturday presentation.
Christmas in Carthage
CARTHAGE — The Carthage Historical Society will hold its “Christmas in Carthage” at the Carthage Historical Museum at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. A potluck supper will open the evening, so members are asked to bring a favorite dish. Entertainment will follow.
Snowmobile meeting
NEW VINEYARD — The New Vineyard North snowmobile club meeting and Christmas party will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 12, at the Smith Hall, with an exchange of gifts and refreshments. Members are asked to bring a gift and something for refreshments. There will be a collection of nonperishable items for the Food Closet at Fairbanks.
Christmas program
FARMINGTON — “Come and See What’s Happenin’ in the Barn,” a Christmas program in Gaither style, will take place at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Farmington Baptist Church, 194 Whittier Road. For more information, call 779-0731. The program is sponsored by the church.
Holiday fair
FARMINGTON — A holiday fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Fairbanks Union Church, 583 Fairbanks Road. It will feature holiday crafts, food and candies, jewelry, wreaths, plants and stuffed animals. To order a wreath early, call 778-3208.
Santa’s workshop
WILTON — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church announces the sixth annual Santa’s Workshop to be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11. The event will provide an opportunity for area children to shop for new or gently used items to be used as gifts for their parents.
Nothing is priced over $1 and gift wrapping is included. Coffee, cider and doughnuts will be available for parents while their children shop. The church is located at the corner of School and High streets. For more information or to donate items for the sale, call the church at 645-2639.
