LEWISTON — The Maine Renegades squirt hockey team salvaged a split this past weekend in Valley League action.

The Renegades lost their first game to Marblehead 4-2. Reed Hopkins (Chelsea) and Hunter Dupuis (Greene) scored the goals. Hard Hat Player of the Game went to Jack St. Pierre (Brunswick).

The second game of the day was a 3-1 win over Wilmington. The Renegades got out to a quick lead and never looked back. The defensive core of Thomas Levasseur (Saco), Owen Cox (Lewiston), Andrew Verrault (Saco), Connor Dupuis (Greene) and Tyler Marcoux (Lewiston) helped goalie Jacob Smith (Lewiston) take care of their end and limited their opponent to six shots.

Renegades forwards did their best to capitalize on turnovers, and all three lines had many scoring opportunities. Newcomer Derek Allen (Scarborough) had a goal and assist, while the other goals were scored by Casey Cloutier (Winthrop) and Hopkins with Jack St. Pierre and Thomas Levasseur collecting assists. Caden Smith (Lewiston) was named Hard Hat Player of the Game.
