Coach: Rick White (second year)

Last year’s record: 19-1, lost in Western Class B semifinals

Returning letter winners: Senior — Cam Kaubris (6-0 guard); Juniors — Izaak Mills (5-10 guard/forward), Zach Radcliffe (5-7 guard); Sophomores — Jacob Theriault (6-0 guard), Ryan Nicols (5-9 guard).

Key losses: Jacob Arsenault, Chris Day, Jon Benjamin, Adam Bedard, Derek Volkernick, Cole Clark, Brady Fergola, Ryan Laubauskas.

Promising newcomers: Seniors — Cote Blanchard (5-10 guard), Brandon Milligan (5-9 guard), Justin Carter (6-5 center), Hanson Gorham (6-5 center); Juniors — Isaac Roberts (6-1 forward), Andrew Child (5-10 guard).

Outlook: Mountain Valley employed a high-octane offensive system to win an MVC title and complete an undefeated regular season last year. The Falcons still plan to run the floor and shoot frequently, and it’s a safe bet that Kaubris (16.9 points per game as a junior) will take a majority of those shots. Like its championship football team, MV hoop may go as far as its defense. The Falcons’ goal is to force 20 to 25 turnovers per game. Despite the heavy graduation losses, Mountain Valley expects to be in the hunt for league, regional and state titles.

Coach’s comment: “Our goal is to make noise once we get into the playoffs. We want to play for a championship.” — Coach Rick White
