AUGUSTA — Junior forward Cody Mousseau hit a three-pointer with one minute remaining in regulation to put Lewiston up by four en route to a 51-50 victory over Cony in KVAC boys’ basketball action Friday.

The Rams cut a four-point deficit at the start of the second half, but the Blue Devils bounced back. Junior gaurd Shawn Ricker notched a game-high 12 points for Lewiston, while Corbin Hyde dominated on the boards with eight rebounds.

Cony had a chance to pull out a win with three seconds remaining, but failed to connect on the field goal.

Sophomore guard Zach Lachance led the Rams with nine points on a three-point basket and six free throws.

Maranacook 44, Oak Hill 42, OT

WALES — Jack Kennedy’s running layup with six seconds remaining in overtime lifted Maranacook past Oak Hill with a 44-42 boys’ basketball victory.

The Raiders sent the game into overtime with nine seconds left in regulation when Cam Morin hit both ends of a one-and-one.

Kennedy led all scorers with 15 points. Morin was the top scorer for Oak Hill with eight points and he hauled down seven rebounds, while Trevor Samson chipped in with six points and 10 boards.

Buckfield 61, Valley 48

BUCKFIELD– Kasey Robertson scored 18 points and ripped down 10 rebounds as Buckfield defeated Valley 61-48 in boys’ basketball Friday.

Austin Dooley chipped in with 15 and Alan Hedrick added 11 for the home squad.

Carrington Miller netted 19 points to pace Valley.

Winthrop 43, Lisbon 41

LISBON FALLS — Ryan Conant and Billy Gordon combined to hit eight of nine free throws down the stretch in the fourth quarter to lift Winthrop to a 43-41 boys’ basketball win over Lisbon.

Conant led all scorers with 18 points, while Gordon contributed 16 for the Ramblers. Conant was perfect from the line in the final quarter, hitting all four of his attempts from the charity stripe.

Tobey Harrington led Lisbon with 16 points. He also added eight rebounds and five steals. Mike Degou chipped in with 14 points for the Greyhounds.

Monmouth 65, Boothbay 62

MONMOUTH — Tim Whitmore scored 22 points and Robby Neal added 21 to pace Monmouth to an opening-night 65-62 victory over Boothbay on Friday night.

Boothbay had the early advantage, opening a 19-12 advantage after the first quarter. The Mustangs seized control in the middle two frames to take leads of 32-31 and 49-40. Roger Bachelder added 18 points in the Mustangs’ three-man attack, which scored all but four of Monmouth’s 65 points.

Leading Boothvay was Jordan Caron and Anthony with 17 and 16 points, respectively.

Brunswick 45, Oxford Hills 43

BRUNSWICK — Mitch Black hit a 15-foot jump shot with 3.5 seconds remaining to lift Brunswick to a 45-43 victory over Oxford Hills.

Trailing 38-27 after three quarters, the Vikings clawed back into the contest in the fourth quarter. Oxford Hills (0-1) tied the score on a 3-point basket by sophomore John Frechette with 24 seconds left in regulation before Black’s heroics ended the comeback. Black ended with a game-high 17 points, while teamate Trent Anderson chipped in with 12 points for the Dragons.

Junior Josh MacDonald paced the Vikings with 15 points. Frechette added seven in the loss.

Leavitt 56, Lincoln 40

NEWCASTLE — Trailing by three points after the opening quarter, Leavitt erupted for 28 points in the second quarter to cruise to a 56-40 victory over Lincoln.

Hornets junior forward Tim Dow led all scorers with 15 points, while senior Lucas Witham added 12 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Jordan Hersom chipped in with nine points, including seven from the free-throw line.

Lincoln was paced by Dylan Leavitt with 13 points in the loss.

Mountain Valley 77, Madison 45

MADISON — Cam Kaubris poured in 21 points as Mountain Valley cruised to a 77-45 triumph over Madison.

The Falcons drained 11 3-pointers and outscored the Bulldogs by a 45-23 margin in the second half. Jacob Theriault helped out with 10 points.

The Bulldogs were paced by Cody Briggs, who scored 13 points, and Ian Hartigan, who dropped in 12 points and hauled down 10 rebounds.

St. Dom’s 43,

Goerges Valley 38

AUBURN — Senior guard Kurt Johnson recorded a game-high 16 points to lead St. Dom’s to a 43-38 victory over Georges Valley in MVC boys’ basketball action Friday.

Both squads exhausted most of their energy in the first quarter. The Buccaneers led 18-17 after the first quarter and 28-27 at the half.

The Saints (1-0) played some outstanding defense in the third quarter, outscoring their opponents 7-2, and clinching the win with a 9-8 margin in the final frame.

Senior guard Jake Sicotte chipped in with 11 points for St. Dom’s. Junior guard Alex Wallace led Georges Valley with 12 points in the losing effort.

Yarmouth 56, Poland 43

POLAND — Mike McCormack scored 15 points and Josh Britten added 14 to lift Yarmouth to a 56-43 victory over Poland.

The game was tied after three quartersbut the Clippers outscored Poland 19-6 in the final quarter to win going away.

Jacob Littlefield scored 12 points to lead the Knights. Drew Peterson added 10.
