LEWISTON — George A. Remillard, 84, of New Gloucester, passed away on Dec. 12, at Russell Park Manor after a short illness.
He was born in Suncook, N.H., Aug. 19, 1926, the son of Louis and Alma Remillard.
He attended Edward Little High School and served in the Navy during World War II on the USS Terror.
On July 19, 1947, he married Ruth Martin. George was employed by Bates Bedspread for 40 years. He then went to work at FISC until his retirement.
He was a member of the New Gloucester Amvets Post 6, the New Gloucester Historical Society, First Auburn Senior Citizens and Robin Dow Senior Citizens. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed watching the Red Sox and the Patriots. He also enjoyed traveling, camping and trains.
He is survived by his sons, Blaine and Bruce of New Gloucester, Brian of Poland, Barry of Lewiston and Brent of Buckfield; his daughter, Barbara Ringuette of Auburn; his brother, Donald of Washington, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several stepsiblings.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth; his sons, Bradley and Blake; his parents; siblings, Harold, Janet, Jackie and William; and his son-in-law, Robert Frank.
