LEWISTON — Therese L. Godin, 85, formerly of Fifth Street, Auburn, died peacefully sourrounded by her loving family on Saturday, Dec. 11, at d’Youville Pavilion.
She was born in Auburn, Sept. 27, 1925, a daughter of the late Arsene and Marie Jeanne (Boucher) Raymond. She was educated in local schools. Therese married the love of her life Marcel Godin on May 30, 1951 at St. Louis Church. After her children were grown, she waitressed at Eddies Diner, now The Village Inn, the Big S and Mac’s Variety.
She was a member of St. Louis Church, Dames de St. Anne and in her early years, The Golden Arrows Drum and Bugle Corps as a majorette. She enjoyed cooking, baking, cross word puzzles, word searches and her flower gardens. Her greatest enjoyment was following her grandchildren whether it was sporting events, school functions or dance recitals.
She leaves her husband of 59 years, Marcel Godin of Auburn; two daughters, Patti Bussiere and her husband, Albert, of Auburn and Lynn Dansereau and her husband, Michael, of Tampa, Fla.; two sonsm Marc Godin of Waterville and Daniel Goding and his wife, Kim, of Lewiston; a brother, Bertrand Raymond and his wife, Florence, of Auburn; seven grandchildren, Leila Gilbert of Saco, Candace Cartwright of Alaska, Eric Palmer of Oxford, Cody Mercier of Auburn, Kate Swaby of Alaska, Shannon Godin of Auburn and Brittany Dansereau of Tampa, Fla.; six great-grandchildren, Abraham Huff of Saco, Logan Cartwright of Alaska, Owen Swaby of Alaska, Addison Huff of Saco, Cameron Palmer of Oxford and Shelby Mae Cartwright of Alaska.
She was predeceased by a grandson, Jeremy George Godin; a sister, Claire Dennis; and four brothers, Robert, Richard, Laurier and Maurice Raymond.
