LEWISTON — A five-year contract between the Lewiston School Department and Hudson Bus was unanimously approved by the Lewiston School Committee on Monday night.
The Lewiston School Department contracts for bus service. Lewiston schools do provide fuel for buses, since schools can buy fuel cheaper than private companies, School Department Business Manager Dean Flanagin said.
Three companies bid for the contract. Typically the lowest, responsible bidder is recommended, he said, recommending Hudson.
Hudson Bus, which has for years bused Lewiston students, was the lowest bidder, offering to bus city students for $1.89 million a year. The two other bidders were Northeast Charter and First Student, which both bid $2 million.
