AUGUSTA — Ileane “YaYa” (Crozier) Virgin, 83, of Carthage, died peacefully Dec. 10, at the Glenridge Nursing Home, after a courageous battle with dementia.

She was born on Oct. 5, 1927, in Syracuse, N.Y. Ileane married Wallace Virgin on Feb. 5, 1951, and they had three children together. She worked at General Electric and then became a wonderful homemaker.

Ileane loved her grandbabies, Brielle and Jazmine very much and “raised” a number of children in the town of Carthage and loved them all. Her hobbies and likes were bingo, playing cards and kismet, making candies and enjoying her family and friends.

She is survived by her longtime companion, Donald Houghton; her daughter, Mary Virgin-Brooks and husband, Carl; her son, Steven Virgin and companion, Amanda Chase; two brothers, Charles and John Crozier; a sister, Jean Crozier; many nieces and nephews; and one special neighbor, Debbie Swett.

She was predeceased by her parents; a son, Wallace Virgin; sisters, Elizabeth Blenn and Frances Allen; and her twin sister, Kathleen Bennett.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Auger and Dr. Hart and the staff at Glenridge; you were angels.

You are invited to share your, thoughts, condolences, and fond memories with the Virgin family by visiting their guest book at www.sgthibaultfuneralhome.com.
