AUBURN — Mary A. Palmer, 86, of Litchfield, passed away Dec. 10, at Sarah Frye Home.

She was born March 22, 1924, in Gardiner, the daughter of John and Cathleen (Flaherty) Burns. She lived most of her life in the Gardiner and Richmond area.

She was a 1943 graduate of Gardiner High School and married Richard D. Palmer Sr. of Litchfield, who passed way in 2005. She worked in various shoe shops in the Hallowell and Gardiner area and retired to Litchfield in 1977.

Mary enjoyed AMC movies, reading and playing bingo at the Litchfield Sportsman Club.

She is survived by three children, Richard Jr. and wife, Suzanne, of Merrimack, N.H., Lorraine and James Asselin of Litchfield and Stephen and Lynn of Litchfield; eight grandchildren, Shawn, Christopher, Elizabeth, James, John, Albert, Rebecca and Stephen, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren, and one on the way; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
