HALLOWELL — Gaslight Theater will hold auditions for the first show of the 2011 season, “Key for Two,” a comedy by John Chapman and Dave Freeman.

Auditions will be at 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 27-28, at Hallowell City Hall.

The audition will include cold readings from various scripts and some improvisation. There are roles for three men and four women of all ages.

In “Key for Two” Harriet, a divorcee living in an elegant flat in Brighton, solves her financal problems by entertaining two married gentlemen callers on different days of the week. The scheme faces collapse when her best friend, Anne, whose marriage is tottering, arrives at the flat hotly pursued by her husband.

One of Harriet’s lovers is confined to her bed with a sprained ankle, and the second  turns up unexpectedly, closely followed by two irate wives in search of itinerant husbands. Confusion builds to a rich complexity of mistaken identity and farcical situations.

Performance dates  are Feb. 25, 26 and 27; and March 3-5.
