AUBURN — Robert Martin, 68, of Ames Avenue, Lewiston, lost his battle with cancer early Tuesday, Dec. 14, at The Androscoggin Hospice House.

He was born in Lewiston, Jan. 16, 1942, eldest son of the late Percy and Lina (Deschaine) Martin. He was educated in local schools. He married the love of his life, Connie Beaule on June 3, 1967. Bob worked for Bell-Moc Shoe Co. and Sebago Shoe Co. for 30 years in the trade of handsewing.

Bob was an avid walker and enjoyed daily walks around town as well as on the Bates track; strolling on the beach or hiking in the mountains looking for bears. His passion in life was his family. He was a fun-loving man who enjoyed hockey, wiffle ball and playing outside with his kids and grandkids. He delighted in taking photos of his grandchildren at their sporting events and on family trips.

He leaves his wife of 43 years, Connie, of Lewiston; two daughters, Kelly Frahn and husband, Charles, of Auburn and Kim Gendron and her husband, Rodney, of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Chase and Spencer Frahn and Luke Gendron; four sisters, Connie Greene, Madeleine Badong, Bonnie Potvin and Christine Bourgoin and her husband, Rick; a brother, Roger Martin; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Tina Martin.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Roger Austin and the entire staff at The Hospice House for the exceptional care they gave to Bob during his stay.
