LEWISTON — Thomas A. “Butch” Mahoney, 78, died Tuesday, Dec. 14, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Rumford, Dec. 13, 1932, a son of the late Cecil H. and Christie (Stevens) Mahoney Sr. He attended Rumford schools. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He worked as a lead man for Sikorsky Aircraft in Stratford, Conn., for more than 40 years until his retirement in 1996.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church in Lewiston and was a member of Robert Shand Post 1641, VFW and Napoleon Ouellette Post 24, American Legion.
He was married in Mexico, Nov. 22, 1956, to the late Lumina Mary “Mena” Martin, who died in Lewiston on July 22, 2005.
Survivors include three sisters, Beverly Jasud and her husband, Donald, of Mexico, Ruth Karpen of Rumford and Evelyn Gaul of Rumford; many nieces and nephews; and companion, Terry Bell of Lewiston.
He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Dorr; and a brother, Cecil Mahoney Jr.
