Live nativity

OXFORD — A story of Jesus’ birth will be presented at a Live Nativity at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at the Oxford Advent Christian Church on Route 26.

The indoor pageant will feature costumed characters against a series of hand-painted backdrops in the main sanctuary. There will be narration, music and congregational singing.

The free public presentation will be followed by a chili and chowder supper in the church dining hall. All are welcome to attend.

Blue Christmas

BETHEL — A Blue Christmas Service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22, at West Parish Congregational Church, Church Street. All are welcome to gather at the ecumenical service to acknowledge their “Christmas Blues,” the reasons for them and offer them to God at the service.

Carol Stevens and Virginia Rickeman will lead the service. Those who wish to support someone feeling “blue” at this season are also welcome.

Christmas Eve

SUMNER — The Dec. 24 Christmas Eve service at the Congregational Church of East Sumner will start with an outdoor Living Nativity at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the vestry.

At 7:30 p.m., a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service of Lessons and Carols will be held in the sanctuary.

Donations at the Living Nativity will benefit the Deacons’ Community Outreach Fund; the candlelight service will benefit retired ministers who have no pension plans.
