LEWISTON – Lawrence C. (Larry) Higgins, 59, of 215 Lewiston Junction Road, Poland, died at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 16, at Central Maine Medical Center, with his family closely by his side.
He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 10, 1951, to the late William (Bud) and Velma (Lovejoy) Higgins. He was raised in Sabattus and attended Sabattus Schools.
On May 28, 1982, he married Diane Delisle, and together they settled in Poland to raise their family. He was the owner and operator of Twin City Tile and Remodeling Co. for the last 35 years. He took great pride in his work, like that of an artist. His skills were passed to his two sons, and many others throughout his life time.
Larry enjoyed and took great pride working outdoors in his yard. His latest project this past summer was converting the tree house he built back in 1987 for his own two sons, into a playhouse for his grandchildren. His plans this coming summer was to build an addition onto the playhouse. His grandchildren were his life – they were the twinkle in is eyes.
He also spent a great deal of time with his best buddy, Louie Brooks. Together you would find them discussing their next invention, or in a debate over local and world news. You are a great friend, Louie.
He is survived by his wife, Diane Higgins of Poland; his daughter, Tammy Higgins Thomas and her husband, Nick, of Sabattus. Two sons, Keith Higgins and his fiancée, Devon Hartford, of Poland, and Adam Higgins and his fiancée, Jessica Hughes, of Poland. Five grandchildren, Michael, Joshua and Nathin Thomas, and Ema and Keith (II) Higgins; one great-grandson, Spencer Thomas. His sister, Marie Higgins; brothers, Gordon, Bruce and Donald Higgins, and Eddie Grant; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Buddy Higgins; and his sister, Beverly Saunders.
A special thank you to family and friends, and the amazing staff at CMMC during this difficult time.
