Fortier Chapter

LEWISTON — The Dr. Paul Fortier Chapter 52, Royal Arcanum-ACA Division, will gather at 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, in the Senior Citizens Room of the Multi-Purpose Center. Following the monthly business meeting there will be a social hour with refreshments served by Aliette and Ron Couturier.

Seniors to meet

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens will hold a membership meeting on Monday, Jan. 3, at the Multi-Purpose Center. A fried chicken lunch will be available at 12:30 p.m. for members who purchase tickets by Monday, Dec. 27.

Positive thinking

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center is offering a free positive thinking workshop for cancer patients, survivors and caregivers titled “Staying Positive in Times of Challenge.”

The workshop is part of the Growing Through Cancer Series presented by Marcy Covey and will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at CMMC, 12 High St., conference room I.

Covey, a personal health counselor, yoga and exercise instructor, will discuss techniques on staying focused, grounded and positive during challenging times. Regular practice will assist in stress management through life’s peaks and valleys.

Grief programs

LEWISTON — Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice (AHCH) is offering programs this winter to provide information and support to adults and youth in central and western Maine grieving the death of a loved one.

Program sessions help participants understand the grief process, share feelings and experiences and find hope and comfort. All programs are led by trained bereavement volunteers and/or professional grief facilitators and are offered free to participants.

Bridge play

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Dec. 20 were as follows: North-South, first, Lucille Theriault and Nancy Lindgren; second, Helen Little and Anna Vitiello; third, Nancy Farmer and Linda Leotsakos.

East-West, first, Henry Lerette and Paul Mitnik; second, Marta Clements and Cindy Kirchherr; third, Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; first in B, Larry Fortier and Roger Labbe.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Multi-Purpose Center and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Schooner Estates, Auburn. A partner is guaranteed. Call Rosemarie Goodwin at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area.
