DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to know where I can get white unpopped popcorn. I have looked everywhere for weeks. Hannaford’s used to carry it. There’s plenty of yellow popcorn, and it doesn’t look like it’s selling very fast. When I looked last week, there was another lady looking also. I don’t want the microwaveable popcorn. ANSWER: Sun Spots spoke to a manager at Hannaford who said that white popcorn was discontinued by the supplier and is no longer available. There are several places online to buy white popcorn, but perhaps readers will know of a local source.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Sun Spots has been a fantastic resource for local inquiries. Thank you. I am inquiring if we could find out whether or not the Hannaford supermarket will in fact be built in Turner. I believe there was an appeal filed by the neighboring homes of the potential location and I seem to recall a Sun Journal article last summer saying the judge would make the decision within two or three weeks. It has been much longer than a few weeks; months in fact and we have not heard anything. Thank you. — No Name, Turner

ANSWER: Sun Spots went to reporter Kathryn Skelton, who wrote the original story on the new store. She said she has been checking in weekly with the Androscoggin County Superior Court to see if the verdict is in. At her last check on Monday, it still isn’t. A clerk told her the length of time isn’t unusual.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: How does one go about contacting the Christmas Tree Shop organization to see why they can’t locate a store in our area. It’s a great store with lots of super specials. — No Name, No Town

ANSWER: You can write to the corporate headquarters at 64 Leona Drive, Middleborough, MA 02346-1433. Sun Spots wishes you luck, but she thinks that with the current economic climate and stores already in Augusta and South Portland that a store in L-A is unlikely at this time.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: You posted Angie Rogers’ name for making bears from fur coats. Boy, you were right. With my old mink she made me a teddy bear and long-eared bunny. They are beautiful! I would recommend her highly. She is creative, meticulous and takes a lot of pride in her work. They are both proudly displayed in our home. — C.J. Tolini, Sabattus

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Christmas Eve service at the Congregational Church of East Sumner will start with an outdoor living Nativity at 6:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served in the vestry. At 7:30 p.m., a Christmas Eve candlelight service of lessons and carols will be held in the sanctuary.
