Christmas Eve
PARIS — The traditional Christmas Eve service at the First Universalist Church, 36 Pine St., South Paris, will begin at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 24.
The service will be led by Marilyn Hammond, assisted by readers Richard Varney, Sharon Bouchard and Wayne Whittemore, sharing traditional and contemporary readings. Music will by the choir, Renee Wales, flutist, and Forest Perkins, church organist. Everyone is invited.
The regular Sunday service on Dec. 26 will not be held so that families may continue the Christmas celebration with their families and friends. The next service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2. Sharon Bouchard will be the worship leader.
Bottle drive
PARIS — Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School French classes are raising funds for a trip to Canada through a bottle drive. The drive is set up at Don’s Redemption on Main Street, Norway. Now through Friday, Feb. 11, tell the redemption center the bottles are a donation for the high school French classes.
Socrates Cafe
WATERFORD — A Socrates Café gathering will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the Waterford Library. The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in an atmosphere, where divergent views will be welcome.
The topic for January is “Does Beauty Matter?” Ed Somers will be the moderator.

Clothing center
HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center, Church Street, will be open from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 1 and 15.
