FARMINGTON — Traditional Christmas Eve services will be held throughout the area Friday night.
In Farmington:
– An ecumenical service is planned for 11 p.m. Friday at Old South Congregational Church on Main Street in Farmington. The service will be hosted by area churches through the Farmington Area Ecumenical Ministry.
– Christmas Eve Masses will be held at 4 and 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Church. The 4 p.m. service is a children’s service. A Christmas Day Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church on Middle Street.
– Fairbanks Union Church will hold its Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. Friday. This is a service of lessons and carols.
– Henderson Memorial Baptist Church on Academy Street plans a 7 p.m. Christmas Eve service.
– Farmington Baptist on Whittier Road will hold a candlelight service Friday starting at 6 p.m.
In Jay:
– Masses at St. Rose of Lima Church are planned for 4 and 10 p.m. Friday. The early service is a children’s service. A Christmas Day Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Saturday.
– Bean’s Corner Baptist Church’s service of music and readings will begin at 6 p.m. Friday. The church is at the intersection of Routes 156 and 133.
In Wilton:
– St. Luke’s Episcopal Church will host its annual Christmas Eve service at 5 p.m. Friday. The Holy Communion will include Christmas carols and will feature a chancel drama by local actor Michael Cooper. The church is at the intersection of School and High Streets.
In Industry:
– Shorey Chapel United Church of Christ will hold a traditional Christmas Eve service of story, carols, special music and candle-lighting at 6 p.m. The church is at 1109 Industry Road on Route 43.
In New Sharon:
– New Sharon Congregational Church will hold its service at 4 p.m.
In North Livermore:
– A service will take place at 11 p.m. Friday at the North Livermore Baptist Church.
In Farmington Falls:
Farmington Falls Union Baptist Church welcomes the public to an hour of singing Christmas carols beginning at 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, to keep the Christmas spirit alive after Christmas. Those who don’t sing are invited to attend and enjoy the harmonious harmonica and piano music presented by Maurice and David Hovey. The Rev. John Tolman will take the day off with no sermon planned. Instead, a time of singing, lighting of the Advent candle, prayer, Christmas readings and hymns will be followed by refreshments, including a birthday cake.
