MORRISVILLE, Vt. — Hazel F. Neilson, 89, of Stowe, Vt., died Tuesday, Dec. 14, surrounded by her family after a long illness at Copley Hospital in Morrisville, Vt.
She was born in Lewiston on March 25, 1921, the daughter of Elmer D. and Laura W. Fogg. She graduated from Lewiston High School, attended Bliss College and during the war years worked as a secretary for Prudential Insurance Co.
She married her high school sweetheart, Robert R. Neilson, on Sept. 19, 1942, and in September they celebrated their 68th anniversary with a family party.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Worcester, Mass., the Worcester Women’s Club, the Worcester Country Club, the Quechee Community Church and the Quechee Club. Hazel was a remarkable woman. She was people and family-oriented and had a facility for making and keeping lifelong friends. She was a devoted and supportive wife, a caring and loving mother and mother-in-law and an adoring grandmother.
In addition to her husband, Robert; she is survived by her son, Robert R. Neilson, Jr.; her daughter-in-law, Kathy Neilson; her grandson, Brian Neilson; her granddaughter, Lindsey Ann Neilson; her sister, Jean Filliettaz; as well as many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was predeceased by an infant son; a daughter, Betty Jean Neilson; sisters, Bertha Fogg and Barbara Greene.
