SUMNER — Thomas Bragg of Sumner turned 90 on Nov. 27 and more than 140 people turned out for his birthday party at the Sumner Congregational Church.

State Rep. Terry Hayes presented Bragg with an award for reaching his 90th year.

Bragg worked construction and as a cemetery groundskeeper most of his life. Even into his 80s he was working in the cemeteries. He also helped the town repair roads.

Bragg, who goes by the nickname of “Crop,” is a member of the Sumner Congregational Church. He has eight living children and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His first great-great-grandchild, a girl, Kendall Wyman, was born on Oct. 4, making a four-generation family.

Bragg loves the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He makes his own maple syrup and has a large garden, giving away much of his produce.
