RUMFORD — Pauline A. Blanchard, 87, of South Rumford Road, Rumford, died Friday, Dec. 24, at her residence, following a brief illness, with her loving family at her side.

She was born in Rumford, March 11, 1923, a daughter of Ameddie and Jennie (Gauthier) Fournier. Pauline was educated in Rumford schools and was a graduate of Stephens High School, Class of 1942.

She married Paul Blanchard in 1945 and together they celebrated 41 years of marriage and raised nine children. Paul passed away in 1986.

Pauline was a devoted homemaker and a loving mother. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior.

Pauline enjoyed playing “63”, knitting, feeding the birds, sewing, doing crossword puzzles, cooking, working in her vegetable garden and family trips to the ocean.

Surviving are her children, William Blanchard and wife, Debra, of Chesterfield, Mass., Louise Clement and husband, David, of Bowerbank, Cindy Talbot and husband, Michael, of Waterville, Dennis Blanchard and wife, Debra, of Candia, N.H., David Blanchard of Fla., Norman Blanchard of Atlanta, Ga., Paula Holman and husband, James, of Dixfield and Mark Blanchard of Rumford; 12 grandchildren, Gwen, Scott, Kara, Jonathon, Shawn, Christopher, Jason, Beth, Joshua, Nicole, Rachel, and Michael; and three great-granddaughters, Ella, Sadie and Dorothy.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Paul; and a son, Robert.
