SOUTH PARIS — Albert Lee Swan, 86, of Newry, died Monday, Dec. 20, at the Maine Veterans Home.
He was born in East Bethel, May 28, 1924, the son of Albert and Ora Field Swan. He graduated from Gould Academy in Bethel. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II as a P-51 pilot.
During his career, he worked at the Oxford Paper Co. in Rumford as a carpenter with Hawken Olson of East Bethel and as an insurance agent with the Maine Insurance Co. of Portland.
Lee greatly enjoyed carpentry, the outdoors, working in the woods, hunting, snowmobiling and four-wheeling with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Merlee Page of Newry; three children, Janis and Jack Cronin of Zephyrhills, Fla., Randy and Jo-Ann Swan of Barre, Vt., and Anita and Jack Soule of Inverness, Fla.; six grandchildren, Brent Black, Kristal Letourneau, Michelle Sanderfur, Alison Black, Jason Swan and Jennifer Straight; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Lee was predeceased by his wife, June Enman Swan; his parents, Albert and Ora Swan; and two brothers, Ernest Swan and Robert Swan.
