PARIS — The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills has announced the December Students of the Month at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School

Students named are Kayla McMichael, freshman; Lacey Ryder, sophomore; Forrest Kugell, junior; and Emily Kist, senior.

Each month, high school staff members nominate students who they feel have “made a difference in their classroom.” The goal of the program is to reward teamwork, positive behavior, extra effort and good student citizenship.

The program is coordinated through the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange and is part of the character education curriculum at the high school. The nomination form lists character traits from which to choose when nominating students and explaining why that particular student exhibits those traits.

This year begins the 11th year of the Rotary Club sponsorship of the program. Maureen Howard, director of the Education Exchange, coordinates the program.

The four students were praised for their positive influence on their classmates by showing kindness and acceptance, active participation in after-school clubs, hard work and leadership.

The students’ names and picture have been placed on a plaque that hangs in the hallway across from the school library. On Dec. 1 they were honored at a Rotary breakfast. In addition, each month the four students have lunch with the principal.
