DURHAM — A single-family house on Ross Road was damaged by an electrical fire Tuesday night, fire Chief Bill St. Michel said Wednesday. No injuries were reported.
The single-family, wood frame, ranch-style home is owned by Ben Pearson and rented by Shawna Hall, who was at home when the blaze started shortly before 9 p.m.
The smoky blaze started in electrical wiring and traveled along a beam before quickly being brought under control by firefighters before reaching any fuel source. Firefighters spent another hour removing smoke, clearing the scene at 10:35 p.m., he added.
Structural and smoke damage was estimated at between $10,000 and $15,000, he said. The house was insured by the owner, but Hall had no renter’s insurance.
