LEWISTON — Lewiston Adult Education’s WorkReady program awarded 14 certificates to Lewiston residents on Dec. 17, completing its 10th training session.
The 80-hour training prepares participants for success in the workforce by initially focusing on developing a positive work attitude, effective communication skills and good time management habits.
WorkReady helps participants evaluate their talents, experiences and preferences to identify their strengths and transferable skills. Participants then learn how to highlight those features in resumes, cover letters and interviews.
Local employers are involved in participants’ training, assessing and networking. The WorkReady credential is recognized by 30 L/A area businesses. The program has been successful in putting more L/A residents back to work.
Upon successful completion, the trainees will also be eligible to participate in an 88-hour training focusing on the transportation, distribution and logistics career pathway for Lewiston-Auburn.
The next WorkReady program will be held in the spring. For more information, contact the Lewiston Career Center at 5 Mollison Way.
