LEWISTON — HealthSteps, part of the prevention and wellness services offered at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, has announced its winter core classes.

HealthSteps has a wide range of classes held at the Bates College Merrill Gym with the core membership fee. Classes run from Jan. 3 to May 27.

Cardio Mix: Participants will try everything from step and kickboxing to dance and hi-lo for a calorie-burning class. Mondays, Wednesdays from 8 to 8:30 a.m., Merrill Gym multipurpose room.

Core and Stretch: An abdominal and lower back workout to help increase flexibility and strength. Tuesdays, Thursdays from 8 to 8:30 a.m., gym multipurpose room.

Step and Tone Interval: Alternating between low-impact step aerobics and total body strengthening exercises for an all-around workout. Fridays from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m., gym multipurpose room.

Time to Stretch: The class goes through a full-body stretch for relaxation, peace of mind and an increase in flexibility. Mondays, Wednesdays from 7:45 to 8 a.m., multipurpose room.

Time to Relax: Take time to  cool down and unwind with deep relaxation. Fridays from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m., multipurpose room.

TNT (Tone-N-Tighten): A weighted workout that focuses on strengthening the major muscle groups of the upper and lower body using resistance tubes, bands and weights. Mondays, Wednesdays from 7 to 7:45 a.m., multipurpose room.

Yogalates on the Ball: A fusion of yoga and Pilates on an exercise ball to increase flexibility, improve coordination and develop strength. Tuesdays, Thursdays from 7:15 to 8 a.m., multipurpose room.

Walk Jog: Includes a group warm-up, strengthening, cool-down and stretching. Monday through Friday from 6:05 to 6:55 a.m., gym track.

Aquatic Fitness: Toning, calorie-burning workout. While swimming skills are not needed, a comfort level in deep and shallow water is important. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6:30 to  7:15 a.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays from 11 to 11:45 a.m., gym pool.

Lap Swim: Individualized form of exercise in the 25-meter, eight-lane pool supervised by a certified lifeguard. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 6:05 to 7:30 a.m.; Tuesdays, Thursdays from 6:05 to 7 a.m. and 11 a.m. to noon; T/TH 6:05 a.m. swim time available beginning Tuesday, Feb. 15.
