FARMINGTON — “More and more older people are making the decision to continue their education at the University of Maine at Farmington,” says Robert Lively, acting director of the Continuing Education Office.

The official UMF fall 1985 enrollment report shows that 552 nonmatriculated students took courses at UMF this past fall, a 32 percent increase over the fall of the previous year.

Dr. Lively explained that the large majority of nonmatriculated and matriculated part-time enrollees are older, nontraditional students who are returning to college due to transitions in their lives.
