KANEOHE, Hawaii — Dwight A. Emery, 77, of Kaneohe, Hawaii passed away on Dec. 26, 2010.
He was born on Aug. 11, 1933, in West Paris, the son of Keith and Edna McMahon Emery. Dwight attended West Paris schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He graduated from the Navy School of Music and played in the Navy Band at Pearl Harbor.
He was very involved with music and played string bass in the Honolulu Symphony for several years. He played at one time with a dance band at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel as well as other music “jobs” over the years. He also played with the original Parisians Dance Band with his father and brother during his high school years.
He retired from his “day job” at Shell Oil at Pearl Harbor in 1996.
Dwight is survived by this wife of 42 years, the former Louise Lar; his son and wife, Keith and Lori Emery; grandson, Ethan; his formerly adopted daughter, Maile Higuchi; brother-in-law, Paul Lar, all of Hawaii; brothers, Lawrence and wife, Carolyn, of Sacramento, Calif., and Warren and wife, Mary, of West Paris; uncle and aunt, Glenn and Mae Emery of West Paris; and several cousins, nieces and nephews in Maine.
