AUBURN — Geoff Low, 40, of Dixfield, was confirmed as Auburn’s deputy fire chief recently.

Low has 24 years of fire service experience and has served for more than 10 years with the Auburn Fire Department, since April 2010 as acting chief. Low has an associate degree in fire science and is a licensed paramedic.

“I am honored to be chosen as Auburn’s deputy chief. The Auburn Fire Department consists of highly qualified and dedicated personnel, who are as committed as I am to making the city of Auburn one of Maine’s safest communities to live, work and play in,” Low said in a prepared statement.

Auburn City Manager Glenn Aho said, “Low’s confirmation of deputy chief comes at a critical time for the city and the Fire Department as we move forward to work with the department members to chart our future. We need a leader who will foster the growth and success of the department within our means. We have a talented department, and I am confident Geoff will do everything possible to further develop that talent so that we provide superior services at an affordable cost.”

Auburn Fire Department is a 60-member department, with three staffed stations, and annually responds to nearly 4,000 fire, rescue and emergency medical calls.
