The Androscoggin County of United Bikers of Maine will hold its second annual chili & chowder competition on Saturday, Jan. 22, at Central Maine Powersports on Main Street, Lewiston. Fifty percent of all proceeds will be donated to Advocates for Children, which since 1978 has been dedicated to the prevention of child abuse. Participants are urged to bring a crockpot of their “family famous” homemade chili chowder. In addition, there will be a youth bakers competition for children under 15, who may bring in a wrapped cupcakes, cookies, brownies or other goodies, in a container with a label detailing the contents. The event, including sampling, judging, peoples choice voting and a 50/50 raffle, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $5 per entry for the adult competition, $3 for children; $5 for guests for each single pass through the sampling aisles.
