WILTON — A mechanical failure left 2,965 homes in Wilton and surrounding towns partially without power Monday during what is the supper hour for some.
Reports of homes with half the lights on and half off, power to some homes and not others and a total lack of power began shortly after 5 p.m. but full power was restored by 6 p.m., Gail Rice, spokesman for Central Maine Power said on Tuesday.
A piece of equipment on top of a pole malfunctioned, she said. CMP workers replaced the equipment.
In this type of incident, it’s not unusual for some places to have half power, no power or see their neighbor next door has power when they don’t, she said.
The town Safety Building, housing the fire and police departments, experienced half the lights on while emergency lights in part of the building came on during the outage.
