LEWISTON — L/A Arts Gallery 5 is offering Saturday workshops in the Gallery. To kick off the new year, the first workshops will be focused on photography and taught by Gallery 5 curator, Tammie Grieshaber.

The first will feature instructions on using digital cameras.

The class, to be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 8, will be divided into three parts: instruction, practice and sharing. It will be held at the gallery, 49 Lisbon St. Cost is $30. Call L/A Arts at 782-7228 to register.

An Adobe PhotoShop Elements for Photographers Series will take place on four Saturdays, beginning Jan. 15.

Adobe PhotoShop Elements(TM) is the baby sister of Adobe PhotoShop(TM). It costs one sixth of the full version, has a flatter learning curve and meets the needs and creative desires of most photographers.

L/A Arts Gallery 5 will offer four Adobe PhotoShop Elements(TM) workshops from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on consecutive Saturdays, beginning Jan. 15. Cost will be $45 a session or $150 for all. Workshops will be as follows:

Jan. 15: Introduction to Elements Tools; Jan. 22: Basic Photo Editing; Jan. 29: More Advanced Photo Editing; Feb. 5: Photo Collage.

Suitable for PC as well as MAC users, participants must have a computer with Adobe PhotoShop Elements(TM) available outside of the class. Each session will include homework assignments that will be reviewed the following week to help reinforce new skills.
