SPRINGHILL, Fla. — Merwin D. Bean Jr., 79, died at home in Springhill, Fla., on Dec 30.

He was born Aug. 29, 1931, in Livermore Falls, to Merwin D. Bean Sr. and Clara Putnam Bean.

He belonged to the retirement club of IP.

Merwin enjoyed his family, being at his camp on Canton Lake in Maine, NASCAR racing at Daytona and Loudon, and all sports.

Merwin worked at IP for 25 years. He retired in 1985, at the age of 56.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean Bean; and five children, Patricia Bean of Springhill Fla., Debra Hoar and husband, Dennis of Damascus, Md., Julie Shible and Stephen of Farmington, Douglas Bean and Susan of Londonderry, N.H., Susan Brown and Robert of South Portland; grandchildren, Michele, Brandy, Eric, Ryan, Katie, Natalie, Nick and Colby.

He was predeceased by his father, Merwin Bean Sr.; mother, Clara (Putnam) Bean; and a sister, Regina Hutchinson; and grandchild, Jamie Shible.
