PARIS — In separate cases, two men pleaded not guilty to gross sexual assault charges Tuesday.

Timothy H. Turner, 45, of Norway, and David W. McDaniels, 50, of Norway, were both arraigned.

Turner is charged with gross sexual assault, sexual abuse of a minor and aggravated furnishing of scheduled drugs. He was accused of giving a 15-year-old girl liquor and marijuana and sexually assaulting her.

Turner is not in custody, but until his trial he is forbidden from contact with the victim or any girl under the age of 16.

McDaniels faces four counts of gross sexual assault against an underage girl. According to Norway police Detective Gary Hill, the alleged victim came forward after her friend came forward with a claim that resulted in unlawful sexual touching and assault charges.

McDaniels was booked and released Tuesday. He was ordered not to have contact with the victim or any other girl under the age of 16. However, Justice Robert Clifford said that because McDaniels’ significant other works at a school, any incidental contact he has with girls while picking up his significant other from work will not be considered a violation of his conditions.

Trial dates have not been set.
