The Squirt Renegades started the new year off with a 2-2 tie against the Maine Hurricanes.
It took some time for the team to regain its legs after a 10-day layoff, but the Renegades twice battled back from a one-goal deficit to skate away with the tie.
Evan Cox tied the game 1-1 in the first period on a pass from Reed Hopkins. The second goal for the Renegades was a second-period power-play tally by Ryan Blouin. Assisting on the goal were Hopkins and Hunter Dupuis.
The Renegades outshot the Hurricanes 29-10 and gained momentum as the game went on. Hard Hat Player of the Game went to Hopkins. The team is back in action this Friday night against the Biddeford Breakers.
