LEWISTON — Nathalie A. (Haskell) Johnson, formerly of New Gloucester, died Jan. 4, at Russell Park Manor, where she was currently a resident. Her family was at her side, she was 80 years old.
She was born Sept. 5, 1930, in West Baldwin, the daughter of the late Shailer P. Haskell and Emma R. (Black) Haskell.
Nathalie attended New Gloucester schools. She always joked that it took 12 years to go from the front door to the back door. She graduated in 1948.
During her life, she worked at the Yarmouth fish factory, worked at Etonic Shoe in Auburn and also was a laundry aide at Montello Manor.
Nathalie was a former member of the New Gloucester Grange 28, Degree of Pocahontas, Durumquin Council 33, and the Remember When Citizens.
She also had many activities that she enjoyed. An avid bowler for many years at Auburn Lanes, working jigsaw and crossword puzzles, collecting cats, watching her soap operas, sitting in her recliner in the corner working on her embroidery and cross stitch all the while listening to the Boston Red Sox on television, and her cats.
She is survived by her daughter, Yvonne A. Johnson of New Gloucester; sons, Darrell S. Johnson of Black River, N.Y., and Dale M. Johnson of Manchester, N.H.; a sister, Shirley S. Donovan of New Gloucester; a brother Terrance L. Haskell, a resident of Auburn Residential Care Center in Auburn; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Nathalie was predeceased by her daughter, Katrina Ann Johnson in 1992; her husband Eugene H. Johnson in 1995; and her sons, Dennis E. Johnson in 1996 and Allyn L. Johnson in 2009.
The family would like to extend their thanks, concerns and thoughtfulness to staffs of the Sarah Frye Home in Auburn, Russell Park Manor and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice while she was at their facilities.
