NORWAY — Evelyn A. Gammon, 87, of Norway passed away Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Norway Rehabilitation & Living Center.

She was born in Norway, Aug. 15, 1923, to Frank and Hannah (Field) Gammon.

She worked for New England Telephone Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1983.

Evelyn was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, Norway Grange and United Methodist Church of South Paris. She became a member of the Rebecca’s in April 4, 1947, where she served as Noble Grand, District Deputy President, Past Rebecca Assembly President and Secretary for many years.

She loved to travel and loved cats. Her last years were spent at Norway Rehabilitation & Living Center, where she enjoyed spending time with staff and her special caregivers.

She is survived by cousins; and special friends, Shirley and Jim Boyce of Norway, Veronica and Shane Poland and their children, Sullivan, Molly and Sawyer of West Paris and Meredith and Jason Humphrey and their daughter, Olivia of Statesville, N.C.

She was predeceased by her brother, Stanley, who passed away two years ago.
