Band to play
PARIS — The Jones Dance Band will play old-fashioned dance music at the South Paris Legion Hall, Church Street, from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturdays, Jan. 8, 15, 22 and 29. Admission is $5. A lunch counter will be open.
Sunday sermon
PARIS — “The Tie That Binds” will be Silver Moore-Leamon’s sermon title for Sunday, Jan. 9, at the First Universalist Church of South Paris. The service will begin at 10 a.m., with the music under the direction of Forest Perkins, church organist. The Sunday school will be led by Renee Wales. A coffee hour will follow in Good Cheer Hall. All are welcome.
King’s birthday
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold a service on Saturday, Jan. 15, Martin Luther King’s birthday, to celebrate the freedoms of the country.
The service will be held at 6:30 p.m. and will include a reading of Lincoln’s second inaugural address, personal reflections on freedom and justice and end with the “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Pastor Skip MacMullen will lead the worship service and welcomes all to join in the special service.
Day to pamper
BRIDGTON — Bridgton Hospital and the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer, Hope and Healing will sponsor a “Pamper Yourself Day” from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 29, at the Crystal Lake Spa and Wellness Center, 103 Norway Rd., Harrison.
Susan Rivet, RN, manager of the Bridgton Hospital specialty clinics, has organized a day of pampering and relaxation. This is the third year for the special event.
The mini-spa sessions are available for cancer patients and survivors. Attendees may bring a family member or friend with them. Reiki, facials, massages, pedicures, manicures, makeovers, hair styling and reflexology will be available.
There is no charge for attendees. Due to space limitations however, reservations are required by calling 647-6120.
