LEWISTON — Edith K. Lemieux, 84, of Rita Avenue, Lewiston, died Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Central Maine Medical Center, after a sudden illness.

She was born on July 28, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles and Amenia Knowlton. She attended Auburn schools and graduated from Edward Little High School.

Edith worked for more than 20 years at the Androscoggin Sheriff’s Department, retiring as sergeant and more than 10 years as a court officer for both the Eighth District Court and Androscoggin County Superior Court. On May 26, 1995, she married Raymond E. Lemieux, who survives her.

Edith was a member of the Marine Corps League Central Maine Detachment, Women’s Auxiliary, American Legion Post 150 of Mechanic Falls, AMVETS-Gray Post, Franco-American Association of Lewiston, Unit Commissioner for Troop 153 Boy Scouts and also a member of 40 and 8 8 and 40.

Besides her husband, Raymond, she is survived by one son, Ronald Poulin and his wife, Doreen, of Auburn; one daughter, Carol Ricker and her husband, Tim, of Auburn; four grandchildren, Daniel Poulin, Kimberly Poulin, Donald Wyse and Derek Wyse; and two great-grandchildren, Aidan and Amelia Wyse.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Clinton and Frank Knowlton; and a sister, Mabel Marshall.
