100 years ago,1911

The Central Maine Power Company is planning to build another pole line through Winslow to North Vassalboro to convey its power to the system formerly controlled by the Vasselboro Electric Light and Power Company. The Central Maine Company last week acquired the plant and franchises of the Vasselboro concern. The proposed line will run from the Fort Halifax powerhouse on the Sebasticook River, along the Fort Hill Road across the Sebasticook River Bridge and along the China Road thence over the North Vasselboro Road to North Vasselboro.

50 years ago, 1961

Two Auburn police officers were the inadvertent victims of their own devotion to duty.

During their patrol last night they found a door open at one of the city’s business places. The two officers entered the building to check it out, found everything in order, but then discovered, to their dismay, that they had locked themselves in.

The officers called police headquarters by telephone and one of the firm’s officers came downtown and let them out.

25 years ago, 1986

A specialist in neonatology and pediatrics has been appointed medical director of Central Maine Medical Center’s Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit, according to CMMC President William W. Young Jr.

Dr. Kathryn L. Moseley, formerly of Baldwin, Mo., has been named director of CMMC’s Level II Neonatal Unit.
