For Paul and Theresa Tardif of Auburn, the building of their home on Taylor Pond — with the concept of bringing the outdoors inside — turned out to be the most fun project.

“We really had a lot of fun building our home perched on rock ledge 120 feet above the pond,” said Theresa. “We had a builder [Reggie Bouffard] that could practically read my mind. I could scribble something down on paper and pace something off on the ground and he knew exactly what I wanted. He is extremely visual. We wanted our home to be simple, practical yet elegant, and Reggie gave it to us. The house is functional and low maintenance. We sometimes feel like kids sleeping in a tree house looking at the stars at night from our bed.”
