AUBURN — Renee Bogart has been appointed as the information communication and technology manager for the city of Auburn.

Bogart began her career with the city as a Geographic Information Systems coordinator in 2007. Since that time, she has taken a lead role in implementing the new EnerGov program, along with her Lewiston counterparts, making it easier for the residents of both Auburn and Lewiston to get their permitting needs met, while saving taxpayer dollars.

Previous to her work with the city, she worked as a senior technician for the Maine Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Planning. Bogart has a bachelor’s degree in environmental planning and policy, with a concentration in GIS from the University of Maine at Farmington.

City Manager Glenn Aho said in a statement, “I am pleased to make this appointment as Renee is an advocate of using technology to improve our services and to create efficiencies that we can pass along to the taxpayer. She is talented and will push our employees to continually learn how we can better utilize our software, and become more efficient, passing our savings on to the taxpayer.”

Bogart is a frequent lecturer at the University of Maine, Farmington, for GIS applications. She lives in Auburn with her husband.
