School open house
OXFORD — Ganderia Middle School is hosting an open house at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 20.
The school was formed in 2006 to provide an affordable and unique middle school experience for families of the Oxford Hills community. Small class sizes, an integrated, project-based curriculum and community involvement are some of the reasons for Granderia Middle School. Beginning in September 2009, a sixth grade was added to the already established seventh and eighth grades.
Anyone interested in exploring educational opportunities for their child for next year’s sixth, seventh or eighth grade is welcome to attend the open house.
For more information, contact Carl Costanzi at 890-1904 or visit www.ganderia.org. The school is located at 301 Webber Brook Road.
USDA sign-up
PARIS — Oxford County USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) Executive Director Marcia Hall has announced that the 2009 crop year Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments (SURE) program sign-up began Jan. 10.
SURE is a disaster program that provides assistance to farmers and ranchers who have experienced losses caused by natural disasters.
“Natural disasters can turn what would be a profitable crop year into a year of hardship and financial loss,” said Hall. “The SURE program is part of the ‘safety net’ that provides assistance to farmers and ranchers when disaster strikes,” she said.
For information on program eligibility requirements, visit a local FSA office or http://www.fsa.usda.gov/sure.
