Chili competition
LEWISTON — The Androscoggin County United Bikers of Maine will present their second annual Chili and Chowder Competition from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at Central Maine Powersports, Main Street.
Those wishing may bring a crockpot of homemade chili or chowder. The entry fee is $5.
The youth bakers competition, for children under the age of 15, will take place at the same time, with an entry fee of $3. Bring a wrapped set of baked goods.
Guests are welcome for $5. Fifty percent of proceeds will be donated to Advocates for Children.

King Day program
AUBURN — The Martin Luther King Jr. Day program at Temple Shalom Synagogue-Center will explore faith-based views on public issues.
In observance of the holiday, Rabbi Hillel Katzir will lead a discussion on the question at 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, at Temple Shalom, 74 Bradman St. The public is invited to attend the free program. For more information, call the synagogue at 207-786-4201.
Legion to meet
AUBURN — American Legion Post 31 will hold a regular post meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, at Alden Gayton Post 31, 426 Washington St.
