DIXFIELD — Makayla Luce nailed a pair of free thows with just seconds remaining in regulation to lift Mt. Abram to a narrow 44-41 win over Dirigo in another MVC girl’s tilt Thursday.

Luce finished with 16 points to lead the Roadrunners (4-6), while Tori Bean added 15 points highlighted by three from long-distance.

The Cougars (7-3) were paced by Hannah Knight with a solid 14-point effort, while Alyssa Wade chipped in with 10 points.

Gray-NG 63, NYA 30

GRAY — After jumping out to a nine-point advantage in the first frame, Gray-New Gloucester raced away to a 63-30 rout over North Yarmouth Academy in WMC girl’s basketball action Thursday.

Maggie Chaplin led the Patriots (5-4) with 17 points, while Rachel Edson chipped in with 13. Alicia Valente and Leandra Grant also contributed with eight points each.

NYA (3-5) was paced by Eliza Gendron and Blair Haggett with 11 points each.

Wells 51, Poland 36

POLAND — The Wells girl’s basketball squad sprinted to a 32-18 lead in the first half and cruised to an easy 51-36 victory over Poland in a WMC tilt Thursday.

Kelsey Bragdon led the Warriors (3-6) with a game-high 16 points, while Mariyah Heath chipped in with 10. Wells built a six-point lead in the first quarter and was never challenged.

The Knights (1-8) were paced by sophomre guard Brittina Maheux with 15 points and six steals, while freshman guard Emily Bolduc added points and pulled down 11 rebounds.

Mountain Valley 50, Madison 25

RUMFORD — Mountain Valley used an 16-8 run in the third quarter to pull away from Madison and recorded a 50-25 victory over Madison in a MVC girl’s basketball matchup Thursday.

Ayla Allen had a stellar performance for the Falcons (7-3) with 21 points, 12 rebounds and five steals. Lindsey Gallant chipped in with nine points, the onlyother player approaching double figures.

Madison (5-5) was led by Alex Jarvais with a 10-point effort, while Jenn Brown tallied six.

Boothbay 49, Monmouth 40

BOOTHBAY — Boothbay went on a 13-5 run in the fourth quarter and pulled away to post a 49-40 victory over Monmouth in a MVC girl’s hoops tilt Thursday.

Alexander Andrews led the Mustangs with 18 points and four rebounds, while Megan Smith tallied 10 points and hauled down nine rebounds.

Dirigo 75, Mt. Abram 12

DIXFIELD — Dirigo jumped out to a 20-2 lead in the first frame and raced away to record a resounding 75-12 victory over Mt. Abram in MVC boy;’s basketball action Thursday.

Caleb Turner led the Cougars with 26 points, while Ben Holmes chipped in with 13.

The Roadrunners were paced by Forest Mitchell with four points, while Robert Rivers added three.
