Carnival dance

BRIDGTON — The Mushers Bowl/Winter Carnival Dance will take place  from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Jan. 22, at the Bridgton Town Hall. Advance tickets are $10 a person; $15 a person at the door.

Tickets are available at the Greater Bridgton Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce, 647-3472, or the Bridgton Community Center, 647-3116.

There will be two bands, Harmony and Wrong Road, and the carnival king and queen will be crowned.

The Bridgton Community Center is sponsoring the event, and all proceeds will support programs and services that the BCC provides. For more information, contact Carmen Lone at the BCC, 647-3116.

Lions tournament

HARRISON — The Harrison Lions Club will hold a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament from1 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 22, at the club den, Main Street. Entry fee is $55. Doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and there will be refreshments.

Proceeds will be used to provide Lions Club services.

Sunday services

NORWAY — The Sunday, Jan. 23, services at the First Universalist Churches of Norway and West Paris will be led by the churches’ worship committees. The service at West Paris will be at 9 a.m. and the service at Norway at 11 a.m.

Honor King

PARIS — Participants of all ages gathered at the Paris Children’s Library on Jan. 17 to honor Martin Luther King Jr. Thirty-five had picnic lunches and heard selections read by Librarian Billie Lou Damon, including a short biography of Martin Luther King. Families received an abbreviated version of King’s speech, “I Have a Dream,” before leaving.
