OXFORD — At Oxford depot things are kept busy just now. The lumbermen are hauling in logs and pulpwood which are being loaded on the cars. Hardwood logs are being loaded on flat cars and shipped to Auburn for bobbin and spool stock. Pine is being loaded and shipped to Saco. The loading of these big logs is quite a job on these high cars. They are rolled on the cars by horses. The pulp stuff is loaded in box cars and is to be shipped to Berlin, N.H. The coal being hauled by the Robinson Co. to Oxford village keeps two teams busy about all the time.

A change in local telephone service, to allow the residents of Lewiston, Auburn, Lisbon Falls, Sabattus and Mechanic Falls to make inter-town calls without having to go through an operator, goes into effect at 1 p.m. today.

All the Lewiston-Auburn telephone numbers have the numerals 78 in front of the telephone number. For local calls only the last five digits of the number are dialed. Twin City numbers start with 782, 783 and 784. Calls made from the two cities to any of the other three communities in the local calling area should be made by dialing all seven digits.
